Discussion of the women thus far makes sense because it provides context for the shooting.
Then, this, emphasis mine:
The women, who appeared to be in their 20s, declined comment when they were escorted by police back to the complex midmorning Tuesday. One was wearing a short, silver dress and the other was wearing a short, black one.What?
What?
What?
Have we suddenly moved to the Life & Style section, where evaluating fashion at a crime scene is all the rage?
Really, I can't figure out what the point is here, except to allow for some leering and drooling and casting of implied aspersions on both the women and men involved in this situation, one of whom is a shooting victim.
And I won't go any further than that with this stinkin' pile of irrelevance.

Both outfits totally normal for evening-wear a nightclub; but still no mention of what the gentlemen were wearing at the time of the shooting. Probably the womans' fault because their attire indicated they wre asking for the guy to be shot. (Please note implied sarcasm intended here.)
Oh, I see the sarcasm. That was the single most off-the-wall line I've seen in a news story in a long time, and considering that so many news stories are full of irrelevancy, that's saying something.
Did the dresses have sparkles? is what I wanna know.
The commentary about their clothing is completely out of context with the rest of the story. It is like saying if it were not for the sluts he would not have gotten shot.
