It's hard to believe that she's 69 today. That must mean that I'm...
Oh, dear.
In class, I get a lot of mileage out of this poem. Simple, but very, very complex.
You Fit Into Me
--- Margaret Atwood
you fit into me
like a hook into an eye
a fish hook
an open eye

Ouch!
I love her.
The Robber Bride is one of my favorite novels.
Hmmm. What does that say about my situation?
Thank You again Bitty, for your thoughtfulness.
Oh, btw - I predict you're going to love The Secret History.
Look there -- you have a new photo!
I DID love The Secret History. I have so little time to read, and yet I got through that one in a couple of days. Priorities, I suppose. ;)
One of the things I liked best about that book was how I was seduced into believing -- at least for a while -- that the Bad Thing that happened was indeed for the best. I suspect the book has that effect on most of its readers.
I had The Robber Bride queued up to read soon. Apparently I've lost the queue...
I'll move it to top priority on your recommendation. When I find it.
I am so looking forward to December, when the semester and another project will end, and I can hit my "reset" button and start over.
I agree about that "being for the best" feeling. Pretty damn stunning first novel, huh?
I wonder when Atwood went gray? She looks very dignified, I must say. I've never read that poem: Caustic!
I have had The Secret History for ages . . . and still haven't read it. Why do books, like clothes, always seem most beguiling when they aren't already sitting on one's shelf?
BTW, when does your semester finish? Isn't it nice to have neat endings to things?
Bee, don't pick up The Secret History if you have pressing engagements or urgent chores!!!
I recommend this one without reservation. You'll chew through it in a couple of days. Maybe one if you have nothing else to do.
I don't know if Atwood's gray or not. Hard to tell from that b&w photo!!!! Her hair never was dark.
I'm not only teaching, but also doing another chore. Grades go in on the 16th. The other chore should be finished by the 19th. Not a moment too soon.
